Prediction:
Why will the brothers begin incorporating a global ministry into the web?
1. The first reactions to dangers on the internet are valid, but they deny a few simple facts about the internet as a whole:
A. The internet is far far more than predator chat, pornography, and useless gossip. It is a “model” of human society, and sciences in ALL their forms digital GLOBALLY; It is a grand “territory”..
B. The internet is a global conduit of information, across every nation, field, industry, news, and research category or science known to man. Why live in denial of it, based on superficial reaction?
C. The internet is a global population of real people, who also need to hear the truth. 2 billion people, and growing constantly, use the internet. 100 billion devices are connected to it. It now has multi-million person sub networks and communities. Who ignores a community field of witnessing?
D. The internet, unlike government information, is real-time information, based on many dynamics in the information system and technologies. Why does compete.com know labor statistics before the US Department of Labor? Why are “official” American conspiracy theories of it’s government like, the Civil War, the moon landing, and 911, exposed more thoroughly on the internet, than at Washington? Why is diverse information better than the New York Times alone? Why is 10,000 news agencies batter than 5?
2. Just using news sites, witnesses can witness on various topics, in many nations, by commenting blog style on threads created by many web pages incorporating running commentary, for additional viewer comment. Why avoid discussion with fellow humans?
3. Many other digital forums and communities, of every topic imaginable, also become a great potential for witnessing, and provide many many global “doors” to knock on. Why isolate away from it, in favor of closed media TV?
4. The information, research and witnessing power of the internet can be denied, ignored, and resisted, or we can educate ourselves and others, that it is the greatest information, research and teaching technology, based on digital technology, that this world will ever know, develop and use GLOBALLY.
5. It must be used for it’s positive potential, instead of running off, in a misinformed blind fear, of dangers which are also present in institutional teaching, TV, and society at large. We cannot be simply closed minded, and scurry off in fear, which is baseless, or minimal and can be educated upon for safe, and fruitful usage.
This jungle needs guidance, from people who do not fear it. Once this information becomes accepted, because it is valid, a great witnessing work, as dynamic, or even more so than the complimentary “door to door” ministry, will be empowered, according to God’s will, not human will.
It is inevitable, globally dynamic, and globally expanding, daily. Pioneers into this, will lead the rest, for good news information, in many many forms, written, graphical, visual, and verbal.
How is it a territory for preaching?
Here’s an example:
News agencies on line. Many of them have running blogs at the end of ALL their articles. They are global in scope.
Who cannot witness to someone on the subject? Is it Russia jet deals? Is it abortion? Is it the Catholic church? etc, etc
Thousands upon thousands of news agencies, millions of articles, and not a peep from Jehovah’s witnesses?
Well that is one of many, valid places to witness. Running blogs with comments are others, as are non-apostate news, technology, science, and religious forums.
Thousands upon thousands of more, lost opportunities.
All it takes is planning and being realistic.
Idea:
1. You build small teams who want to do it, and you address all the arguments against us, the major ones. They can all be addressed completely.
2. You help ones who are also opportune for this kind of witnessing. Why? They may be immobile, or simply not putting in as much as they want to. We must also respond to the fact, that driving around is becoming more and more cost ineffective, as fuel and money increase in price, and decrease in purchasing power. The internet is cost effective, and if I could go through it all, it needs to be tapped more fully, it has great potential.
3. Definitely improve the existing technological use of the society’s existing efforts. Please, that is 1999 web and interactivity, which should be state of the art. You also take advantage of the networks on the internet which can be used as sharing mechanisms with the world, to accommodate the society’s massive digital information, videos, and stuff which could be developed for interactive witnessing.
It’s almost a crime to see the weak webs they have even now, even from basic web design in this millennium, simply unacceptable, they could get 40,000 more people a day, with an updated approach which keeps up with search and web technology. Again, people resisting overwhelming global innovative technology, when they should be leaders in it, as they were in translational computer systems.
I think it will inevitably happen, we do not know the day for Har-Magedon, to see people ignoring the benefits of technology for communication because of this, is not optimum. It should be addressed more fully than a dodge ball game.
And what I believe people may not realize, is that once something is on the internet:
1. It remains, possibly for years. So, when I write something, it may very well be to an opposer, a stumbled one, or who knows, BUT I try to imagine as well, a number of people over time reading the dialogue, rather than one finite communication.
2. If it lasts any amount of time, which is common, it is vacuumed out by search bots, literally possibly hundreds of them, deployed for various uses, not just search engines.
3. So, like a virus, one communication can not only be available to the forum visitor or member itself, but it can be replicated in time, many thousands of times, potentially, on other networks, and into search results from all of them as well, so it will keep replicating itself, potentially globally.
That’s what I think some may not appreciate about how this technology can quickly spread a message, make it accessible to random and programmed searches globally, and “live” on potentially for quite a while. It’s a chaos, and an unknown where it may be “sent” or picked up at.
It’s also a common communication medium for many many people, some people type more now-a-days, than they actually talk to others.
But, it’s still a conversation, so I think it has a more versatile validity than may be apprehended at first glance. It’s a tract in a global electric wind, but in a personal witness format.
Many newspapers on-line, and information network blogs, also have running blog style comments users can add to after the main article. These are very useful, because they cover every topic imaginable, and anyone can add something as a witness or just information to these global websites.
